Westin goes dark to shine light on climate change – The Daily Sun
The Westin Dhaka went dark to shine a light on climate action with Earth Hour 2017.The hotel joined millions around the world in turning off lights for one hour on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. local time to illuminate a powerful message about environmental awareness and action, said a press release.
The annual global environmental awareness event was created and instituted by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in 2007 to emphasise the threat of climate change.
The Westin Dhaka took part by switching the non-essential lights off during Earth Hour, using candlelight in public areas, encouraging guests to re-use towels and linens to save energy and creating awareness by informing guests about Earth Hour. “Earth Hour is not only about an hour. It is a movement and a practice that unites us all to come together and save mother earth. Our existing green practices have always been complemented by Earth Hour,” said Shakawath Hossain, acting General Manager and Director of Operations, The Westin Dhaka.
